The league agreed to be the only league in the north of the county to carry on during the War to give people at home something to do but once the Battle of Britain started the league was suspended.

The league merged with the North Lindsey Cricket League at the end of the 1969 Season.

This database is run by committee member Ric Finlay and contains modules giving scorecards and comprehensive, user-definable statistics of all international cricket, as well as of domestic cricket in many parts of the world. A to Z of Kent Cricketers, 1806 to 1914

We have recently published in our Research Section the first part of a massive A to Z of all cricketers who have played for Kent since 1806, compiled by Derek Carlaw. Part 1 extends to 555 pages, and covers all cricketers who played for the county between 1806 and 1914. A fuller explanation, and a link to the document, which is presented in pdf format, can be found here.

Latest Publications

Our two most recent books are now available in ACS Online Shop. They are A Game Sustained: The impact of the First World War on cricket in Yorkshire 1914-20, Jeremy Lonsdale’s sequel to the well-received A Game Taken Seriously, and The Minor Counties Championship 1913, the latest volume in our series charting Minor County cricket during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Earlier this year we published His Captain’s hand on his shoulder smote, Eric Midwinter’s examination of the incidence and influence of cricket in schoolboy stories, the ACS International Cricket Year Book and our highly popular Second Eleven Annual. The ACS Overseas First-Class Annual 2018, which provides full scorecards for over 600 first-class matches played outside England and Wales in 2017-18 and 2018, is also now available.

Many earlier publications are available in the online shop, including extra copies of the ACS Journal, The Cricket Statistician (which is sent automatically to all members).

To cover the extra cost of processing orders and cheques received by post, ACS Sales has had to introduce a handling charge of £2 per order received by post. Those using the ACS Online Shop are exempt from this charge.

If you need to get in touch with ACS Sales, their contact details are here.

Cricket Archive paywall: ACS members discount

As mentioned above, the owners of Cricket Archive have put its website behind a paywall, with a subscription of £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year.

In recognition of the long-standing ties between the ACS and Cricket Archive, and the work many ACS members have contributed to website, members have been offered a 33% discount on the annual subscription, bringing it down to £33.49. Cricket Archive have also promised to refund this discount to members who have paid the full subscription.

Instructions for obtaining the ACS discount may be found in the Members’ Area, which is password protected. If you do not yet have the password, or have lost it, contact webmaster@acscricket.com; once we have confirmed you are on the current membership list, we will send you the password.

County Cricket: Sundry Extras

The Research Section of the ACS website now contains County Cricket: Sundry Extras, an interesting piece of research by David Jeater. It gives biographical details of over a thousand county cricketers, some well-known but many not, with achievements in areas of public life away from cricket, including fields administrative, commercial, cultural, judicial, military, political, professional and sporting.

David has put County Cricket: Sundry Extras together over several years; he says that many ACS members have contributed to it in one way or another, and wishes to thank all those who can see in the list some of their own findings.

A link on this page leads to the document, which is presented in pdf format.

Cricket: A Weekly Record 1882-1914 online

The digitised version of Cricket: A Weekly Record of the Game, the magazine which ran from 1882 to 1914, is available on the ACS website here. There is also a link to it in the left-hand sidebar.

ACS Online Cricket Records
